April 2005... Training on the Advanced OTDR Measurements course at Lucid training centre

Our dedicated team qualified within Fibre optics recently refreshed and furthered their knowledge on the Advanced OTDR Measurements course at Lucid training centre where they received high quality training. Showing true commitment all of the Lythgoe fibre team scored very high marks with two employees achieving 100% in the exam. On successful completion each of them acquired the OCN Certified Level 3 Award.

• Distance, fibre loss, event loss & return loss, TORL
• Wavelengths, range, pulse width, group index & backscatter coeff.
• Cable drum acceptance tests & installed system tests
• Launch problems, ghosts, “gainers”, saturation & linearity problems
• Auto-mode, macros & re-compute features
• Format, analysis, bi-directional testing, comparison & documentation
• Dark fibre & out-of-band testing for RFTS or security purposes
• Effects of splitters, WDMs & optical amplifiers
• Dynamic range, dead zones, ‘Bellcore’ & standard requirements
• Stability, parameters calibrated, linearity, artifacts& methods
• Manufacturers, suppliers & OTDRs available
