Lythgoes Engineers gain first FIA CMS Qualifications

Three of Lythgoes fibre testing team have become the first Fibre-optic Industry Association (FIA) Certified Measurement Specialists (CMS).

The FIA award provides recognition that the candidate, by passing a series of qualifications from licensed awarding bodies, has achieved a level of expertise appropriate for their function as a specialist fibre tester.

The Lythgoes team undertook a series of qualifications leading to this FIA level III award, including City & Guilds 3466 qualification, Health and Safety qualifications and specialist Advanced OTDR Testing leading to an Open College Network (OCN) level 3 certificate. The majority of the training and assessment was conducted by Lucid Optical Services Ltd, who are leaders in Fibre Optic Training and an FIA Approved Training Provider.

Peter’s son Les was amongst the candidates achieving this status, and the plan is for them to progress onto the FIA level IV award whilst new staff are trained up to the FIA specialist status
