December 2004... Lythgoes sponsor Dakar or Bust 2005!
Lythgoes Ltd are pleased to be taking part in sponsoring a worthwhile cause to bring much-needed aid to a part of the Gambia .
The Plymouth-Dakar Challenge will see upto 140 ‘old bangers' on the road for the best part of a month and travelling over 4000 miles to take part in what has been described by the organisers as ‘the ultimate banger challenge'.
In the Challenge Lythgoes are sponsoring a 1966 Land Rover ambulance, nicknamed ‘Meg', which will be donated on its arrival to the local hospital in Banjul just south of Dakar. Meg has been given a thorough servicing and inspection prior to the journey and is expected to cope well with the terrain. The other vehicles taking part will be auctioned to raise money for local projects.
Managing Director, Peter Lythgoe commented, “As a company
at the forefront of telecommunications technology we're used
to a challenge and meeting tight deadlines and so when we
were approached to support Meg and the Dakar Challenge we
were very pleased to help with such a worthwhile cause.”
